Learning by doing Depending on the program of studies , its specific curriculum, and, most importantly, the student’s own motivation, an internship might prove to be a valuable experience during your time in Maastricht.
When enrolling into a Bachelors at the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences, it is usually your 5th Semster which gives you the chance to dismantle and further develop your individual interests. In exchange, a total load of 18 credit points is provided for the student- nice gesture, right? After all, as a freshman I felt deprived of the possibility interning in a company during the semster- instead, theoretical literature, discussion sessions, and lectures packed both agenda and mind.

Your way ‘in’ First and foremost, a word of advice: Be bold! Apply for the position you genuinely wish to have- independent of initial doubts. The placement is located in Central London? See what you can do in order to pay off your rent.
*You do not speak all languages neccesarily required or lack speficific skills that would distinguish you from other applicants? Visit language classes, courses at another faculty, seek a hobby you absolutely would enjoy to try.
*Add documents that most clearly reveal your interest, enthusiasm, and talent for the tasks potentially awaiting- certainly, you are not the only fish in the sea.
*The more concrete and outstanding the lines written are presented to your potential employer, the higher the chances for an interview experience satisfying and successful.

Mega Model Agency Berlin As for me, it always has been and eventually will be the fashion industry inspiring, motivating, and fascinating me . Representing a colorful interface between fashion magazines, couture houses, designers, beauty professionals, and the media network, internationally prestigious model agencies had intrigued ever since. Usually organized in 3 subdivisions (Men, Women, New Faces), their work most decisively contributes to the fashion machinery’s output, finally to be witnessed on every cover, campaign, editorial, or TV commercial. Sharing these simple definitions with you, I cannot but brightly smile while sharing with you these most personal experiences I was capable of making this summer.
A highly competitive business With a great job comes great responsibility- little sleep, constant stress, and vast expectations in a work performance excellent and representative for the market are supplied for free. Interning at Mega Model Agency in Berlin, a subdivision of the Hamburg Office and mother agency to some of the world’s best paid faces, turned out a highly demanding, extremely exciting, and overall unique experience. On 5 days of the week and from 9.30am until 6.30pm, I personally came to assist the booking agents in running an immensely competitive business: Next to answering the phones, scheduling the models’ appointments, and managing the model books, it was my duty to handle the applications. Up to 3 young women and men daily stepped in the agency’s building, boldly trying to get hold of a model contract. For such a cooperation, during the early stages of the young model’s development, is characterized by a considerably high financial investment for the agency in the individual new face, contracts are rare and, in effect, seldomly approved.
My catwalk experience As a great number of girls were sent out to castings, fittings, and finally the actual designer runways, the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Berlin in July unquestionably constituted he climax of my placement. Exclusively under contract with one designer, I was provided the unique opportunity of escorting the egyptian supermodel, Miss Egypt, and Teen Queen of Africa Tara Emad to her appointments and Shows throughout the city centre of Berlin. These days, clearly having demanded more than mere communication skill, time, and effort, was the most incredible time of my professional life so far.
